Elkview Baptist Church is now beginning its fifth year of basketball and its third year of cheerleading. The program has experienced great growth in just a few years, beginning with 66 players in year one and 225 this year. Elkview Baptist Church has adopted the Upward philosophies of every child plays, every child learns, and every child is a winner. The player who participates in the Upward basketball and cheerleading programs will be given opportunities which will develop self-esteem and character that many children lack today.
The EBC Upward program also accepts the values that the Upward ministry has established and are as follows.
The Expectation of God-Moments

- We believe in serving that exceeds expectations.
Colossians 3:17 – And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
The Priority of Children
- We believe that Every Child Is A Winner.
Matthew 18:14 – In the same way your Father in heaven is not willing that any any of these little ones should be lost.
